Overview

🔒

Plain-language summary: SnapToolApps extensions and tools are designed with privacy by default. Most processing happens entirely on your device. We do not sell your data, and we collect the minimum information necessary to provide and improve our services.

This Privacy Policy describes how Redan Ventures LLC, doing business as SnapTool Labs ("we," "our," or "us"), collects, uses, and protects information when you use our browser extensions, web tools, and related software products (collectively, the "Services").

By using our Services, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use and uninstall any extensions.

💻
Client-Side First

OCR, PDF, and document tools run entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

🚫
No Data Sales

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

📊
Minimal Analytics

Only aggregate, anonymized usage counts if analytics are enabled — never content.

🛡️
GDPR & CCPA Ready

Rights-first design for users in Europe and California.

Data We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to operate our Services. The information we may collect falls into two categories:

1. Information You Provide Directly

  • Account information (if you create an account): email address and chosen display name.
  • Support communications: any information you include when contacting snap.tool.labs@gmail.com.
  • Payment information: processed entirely by our third-party payment processor (e.g., Stripe). We never store full card numbers or bank details.

2. Information Collected Automatically

Data Type What We Collect Purpose Shared?
Extension usage events Feature interaction counts (e.g., "OCR used"), anonymized and aggregated Product improvement No
Error / crash logs Stack traces without document content or PII Bug fixing No
Extension version & browser type Browser and OS version string Compatibility support No
Document content Not collected. All OCR, PDF, and document processing is client-side only. N/A No

We do not collect browsing history, page content, keystrokes, screenshots, or any documents you process with our tools.

Local Processing

💡

Our core tools — including OCR (optical character recognition), PDF manipulation, and document conversion — operate entirely within your browser using client-side JavaScript and WebAssembly. No document content ever leaves your device.

This architecture means:

  • Files you open or drag into our extensions are read by your local browser — not uploaded to any server.
  • Extracted text, converted files, and processed output are generated and stored locally in your browser session.
  • Closing the extension or clearing your browser data removes any locally cached content.
  • We have no technical capability to access documents you process, because they never reach our infrastructure.

Where cloud-assisted features are offered in the future (e.g., sync or backup), they will be clearly labeled, opt-in, and described separately in an updated policy.

How We Use Data

We use the limited information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Providing the Services: authenticating accounts, managing subscriptions, and delivering features.
  • Improving the Services: understanding which features are used most to guide product development (using aggregated, anonymized analytics only).
  • Customer support: responding to inquiries and resolving issues.
  • Security and fraud prevention: detecting misuse and protecting the integrity of the Services.
  • Legal compliance: meeting obligations under applicable laws.
  • Communications: sending transactional emails (account confirmation, receipts) and, with your consent, product updates. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only in limited, necessary circumstances:

Service Providers

We may share minimal data with trusted vendors who help us operate the Services (e.g., payment processors, email delivery services, hosting providers). These providers are contractually bound to process data only for the purposes we specify and to maintain appropriate security.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, prevent fraud, or protect the safety of users or others.

Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before such a transfer and before data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Aggregated / Anonymized Data

We may share aggregate, non-identifiable statistics about our Services (e.g., "10,000 PDFs processed this month") publicly or with partners. This data cannot be used to identify individual users.

Cookies & Local Storage

Our browser extensions do not place traditional web cookies on external sites. Instead, they use browser-native storage mechanisms:

Storage Type Data Stored Controlled By
chrome.storage.local User preferences, settings, license status User (clearable via browser settings)
chrome.storage.sync Synced preferences across devices (if signed into Chrome) Google account sync / User
IndexedDB / localStorage Temporary processing cache; cleared on session end User (clearable via browser settings)

Our marketing website (if applicable) may use cookies for analytics and session management. A cookie consent banner will be presented where required by law. You can manage or revoke cookie consent at any time via the banner or your browser settings.

For more detail, see our Cookie Policy.

Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Account data: retained while your account is active and for up to 90 days after deletion to allow for account recovery.
  • Support communications: retained for up to 3 years for quality assurance and legal purposes.
  • Payment records: retained for up to 7 years as required by financial regulations.
  • Analytics data: retained in aggregated, anonymized form indefinitely; raw event logs (if any) are purged after 90 days.
  • Local extension data: stored on your device only; removed when you uninstall the extension or clear browser storage.

To request deletion of your account and associated data, contact us at snap.tool.labs@gmail.com.

Security

We implement technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk of processing your personal information, including:

  • Encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS) for all data transmitted between your browser and our servers.
  • Encryption at rest for stored personal data and credentials.
  • Minimal data collection by design — we cannot lose data we never collected.
  • Access controls limiting internal access to personal data on a need-to-know basis.
  • Regular review of our security practices.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach that affects your rights, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities as required by law.
